Equity Foundation Policy Review: Consultation Process Update
TDSB is currently in the process of reviewing the Equity Foundation Policy (P037), which establishes the Board's commitment to ensuring that fairness, equity, and inclusion are essential principles of our school system. As part of this process, the following consultation is taking place:

Public Consultation Before- and After-School Programs and Lunchtime Supervision
In response to a Motion passed by the Board of Trustees in October, TDSB is reviewing before- and after-school programs and lunchtime supervision for children in Full-Day Kindergarten (FDK) classrooms, so we can learn about areas of strength and areas for improvement.
The project is being guided by Dr. Joel A. Lopata, an external research consultant leading the collection and analysis of information gathered.
Please find a link to the on-line survey to share with stakeholders (e.g., parents/guardians of 4 and 5-year-old children) who have direct experience with FDK Before- and After-School Programs and/or Lunchroom Supervision in FDK classrooms: www.surveymonkey.com/r/tdsbfdk2017.
The aim is to conclude this Review by the end of the school year and to report the results and recommendations to The Board of Trustees.

2017/2018 Parents Reaching Out (PRO) Grants
Applications for 2017-18 PRO Grants are now being accepted on-line. Under the Ministry's Parents Reaching Out (PRO) Grants for School Councils program, school councils are eligible to receive up to $1000 to support projects to help identify and remove barriers that may prevent some parents from fully participating in their children's learning. Please see the presentation and visit Parents Reaching Out Grants for more information about the program, examples of past projects, and online application procedures.
Note: Application deadline is midnight, Thursday, 25 May 2017.
*Reminder to 2016/17 PRO Grant recipients
Schools that received PRO Grant funding for the 2016-2017 school year are required to:
Spend all 2016/17 PRO Grant funds by 30 June 2017;
Complete and return the Declaration Form (the contract between the school council and the Ministry of Education) to the Ministry of Education;
File all related receipts at the school according to Board policy (government funded initiatives are subject to audit, so these records must be retained for seven (7) years);
Submit a final report to the Ministry on-line at http://education.factorial.ca by August 31, 2017;
Submit a copy of their final report to the Director's Office (via email to the Parent and Community Engagement Office at outreach@tdsb.on.ca).
Anne Frank – A History for Today
It is with tremendous pride that we are pleased to announce that the TDSB will host, for the month of May, (Jewish Heritage Month) "Anne Frank - A History For Today" from Anne Frank House, Amsterdam, The Netherlands, to be housed at John Polanyi CI, 640 Lawrence Avenue West (library). John Polanyi CI is conveniently located across from the Eglinton West Subway Station or take the 52 Lawrence Ave. bus and exit at Varna Drive West side stop.
This Exhibit has 37 panels and tells the story of Anne Frank set against the background of the Holocaust. It makes use of images from the Frank family and quotations from the Diary. Each of the panels displays information about the most important developments of the time such as the rise of National Socialism. Thanks to a partnership with Veterans Affairs Canada in 2015, in recognition of the 70th anniversary of the liberation of The Netherlands by the Canadian army, this Exhibit is fully bilingual and has additional panels on our Canadian contribution to the Second World War. We will also have additional artifacts usually reserved for museum viewing only.
Thanks to the generosity of Heather Reisman and Indigo's Love of Reading Foundation, every student who visits the Exhibit during one of our class trips will receive their own copy of The Diary of a Young Girl by Anne Frank.
There are two dates for public viewing.
