Message from the Principal

Dear Parents/Guardians of grade 7 and 8 students, We have received reports of possible Fern Avenue students breaking in to the abandoned building in Sorauren Park during the lunch hour, playing on the roof and throwing things from it onto the ground. This is clearly a safety risk, and possibly illegal. I have made an announcement today indicating this behaviour clearly contravenes our school expectations of conduct. The park is used as a gathering place by students from several neighbouring schools. In order to prevent any mishap, I am asking you to speak to your child about your own expectations of their safety and their decisions regarding this unsupervised time period. I have further contacted the community response Unit at 11 Division to alert them of this situation and requested that they increase their street presence in the area, particularly over the lunch period. Thank you. Mr. Moy Alexander Moy Principal Fern Avenue Public School

Track and Field at Fern Ave. P.S. 2015

It’s that time of the year where the interest for school athletics revolves around track and field. This year in particular is a special year for track and field, with the obvious excitement brought on by the Pan American games that are set to take place in our city this summer. Naturally, students want to test their abilities in the various track and field events and emulate the world athletes and their glorious performances. Our students will be practicing various track and field events during their gym classes, while division practices outside school hours will start on the week of April 6th . Junior students will be practicing in the mornings (8:00am-8:50am) on Tuesdays and Thursday, with coach Sarantos Katsihtis.
