Dance-a-thon Thursday February 18th

The Fern auditorium will be hopping on February 18th to the beats of DJ Secret. Once again there will be a black light, so participants are encouraged to wear white and day-glo colours. This is one of the largest fundraising events at the school. Proceeds support programs like Scientist in the School, the arts committee, buses and referees, greening initiatives and playground improvements, reading initiatives and science club activities, and Grade 8 Grad. Again this year, 10% of the money raised will go to Project Love, which gives Fern youngsters the opportunity to act as global citizens in a program that sends educational materials to students and teachers in developing countries. (See www.codecan.org/projectlove .) The School Council would like to thank the grade seven and eights who will be donating the proceeds of their dance, which will take place of Friday the 12th, to the school dance-a-thon. Please look for the pledge envelop in you child's bag on Wednesday the 12th. All

Eco-Team

Message from the Fern Ave Student Ecoteam..... We would like our friends and families to donate their old metal forks and spoons so we can REUSE them for our lunches. Our motto is RETHINK before buying, REFUSE or Reject items that can not be recycled or reused, REUSE items always, REDUCE the amount of items thrown into landfill and then lastly RECYCLE! Forks and spoons can be dropped off outside the office or we will be picking them up from each class.
